OUR APPROACH
To avoid two main issues that most other schools struggle with – transient enrollment and limited technology/technology awareness – our staff has developed two signature practices :
SIGNATURE PRACTICE 1:
Multi-Age Classrooms & Programs
Students are placed in multi-age classrooms and work as a team. Age is unimportant; skill and need drive the classroom and learning. Students work in centers or with partners and build upon past knowledge at a level that is appropriate, regardless of age.
SIGNATURE PRACTICE 2:
Technology Embedded Throughout Our Curriculum
We currently have a fully utilized computer classroom with 34 workstations and five laptop carts on campus that are shared between classroom pairs. We are a Google Apps For Education site and working to embed technology into our classrooms in all subject matter.
A BRIEF OVERVIEW
Sunol Glen School, located in Sunol (CA), is a public K-8 school. We are a unique school in that we are a one-school, school-district. Our staff prides itself on utilizing the latest technology, best teaching practices, and optimum learning environment for all students. As a small rural school, we depend on inter-district transfers and families to choose us from nearby communities.
A part of our school's appeal to our neighbors is our ability to maintain small class sizes; include enriching curriculum in Art, Music and Band; and up-to-date skills in Keyboarding, Computers, and Technology.
